What is Dry Eye Syndrome β
A long-term condition where the surface of the eye is inflammed and does not produce enough tears π§
Causes include: older age, inflammed eye lids, wearing contact lenses, Vitamin A deficiency, some medications (e.g. eye drops) π§
What are the Symptoms of Dry Eye Syndrome β
Usually both eyes are affected π
Dryness/itchiness
Discomfort (gritty, burning or stinging sensation) π₯
Redness
Sensitivity to light π‘
Intermittent blurring of vision

Medical assessment
Eye examination π
Referral to eye specialist for special tests
How do you Treat Dry Eye Syndrome β
Good eye & eye lid hygeine π
Using artificial tears and ointments to relieve symptoms
Modifiying environment: use a humidifier, take breaks from screens, avoid smoke/air conditioning π¬
