What is nappy rash❓ 

 Inflammation of the skin in the nappy area 

 Caused by friction between skin, diaper and prolonged skin contact with urine/ faeces 💩

What are the symptoms of nappy rash❓ 

 Rash in the nappy area 

 Distress/ agitation 😖

How do you diagnose nappy rash❓ 

 Having classical symptoms 

 Physical examination 

How do you treat nappy rash❓ 

 Ensure nappy fits properly 

 Leave nappies off as long as possible ⏱ 

 Regular cleaning/ changing (every 3-4 hours)/ after wetting/ soiling ⌛ 

 Avoid talcum powder, bubble baths 

 Creams/ ointments: zinc and caster oil, Metanium, white soft paraffin, or Bepanthem 

 Prescribed steroid creams (if very inflamed) 

 Antifungal cream (if fungal infection) 

Why should I worry about nappy rash❓ 

 Fungal infection 

 Bacterial infection
