Sudden heart failure 💔
The heart stops pumping blood around the body 🚫
Causes: cardiovascular & heart disease, rhythm problems or defects
What are the Symptoms of Cardiac Arrest ❓
Warning symptoms:
- Shortness of breath 💨
- Dizziness/light-headed 💫
- Chest pain
- Nausea/vomiting 🤢
- Heart palpitations
Classic symptoms:
- Sudden loss of conciousness 💤
- Painful gasping for breath/no breathing
- No pulse
How do you Diagnose Cardiac Arrest ❓
Classic symptom assessment 🔍
How do you Treat Cardiac Arrest ❓
Immediate CPR 🤲
Use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
Oxygen treatment or adrenaline may be required
Why should I Worry about Cardiac Arrest ❓
The blood is not flowing, which can cause complications (e.g. hypoxia, when tissues are starved of oxygen)
Treatment should be begin as soon as possible (CPR/AED) 👨⚕️
The faster the treatment starts, the better the survival rate 📈
However, there is a high chance the patient will not survive
