What is Haematospermia ❓

 When there is visible blood in the semen 🔴

 This may be bright red, or a more brown colour

 Causes: infection, growth/cancer, hypertension, bleeding disorder 🦠

 Patient symptoms and history assessment 📋

 General examination

 Urine sample 🧪

 Testes and/or prostate examination

 Further investigations e.g. blood or imaging tests 💉

How do you Treat Haematospermia ❓

 Treatment varies depending on the cause:

 Antibiotics for urinary tract infections (UTI) or prostatitis 💊

 Medication for hypertension (high blood pressure)

 Referral to specialist for bleeding disorders or possible cancer 🏥

Why should I Worry about Haematospermia ❓

 Most cases are mild and have no long term effects

 However sexually transmitted infections may affect fertility 👶

 Regular bleeding may indicate a more severe case
