What is a Cluster Headache โ
A rare type of headache disorder that occurs in clusters
Regular, brief episodes of pain in one side of the head โ
Lasts a few weeks, separated by periods with no symptoms
Can be chronic, with very short (or without) remission periods ๐ค
Causes: unknown, some people may inherit it
Risk factors: between ages 20 - 40, being male ๐จ
What are the Symptoms of Cluster Headaches โ
Pain is felt in one side, around the eye ๐
Pain is usually sharp ๐ช
Attack lasts 15-180 minutes
Frustration/agitation
Sleeping issues ๐ค
Red/watery eye
Blocked/runny nose ๐
Sweating

Medical assessment of symptoms & history
Keep a diary of symptoms ๐
Referral to specialist
How do you Treat a Cluster Headache โ
Injection/nasal spray ๐
Oxygen therapy
Avoid alcohol and identified triggers (e.g. perfume) ๐งด
Why should I Worry about a Cluster Headache โ
It is usually a life long disorder
Can be very limiting to daily life/activity during clusters ๐ดโโ๏ธ
