Low levels of sodium in the blood
Common causes: medication (e.g. diuretics, anti-depressants), severe sweating/diarrhoea/vomiting, heart/liver/kidney disease or failure 💔
What are the Symptoms of Hyponatraemia ❓
Loss of appetite/energy ⚡
Headache
Nausea/vomiting 🤢
Muscle issues (weakness, cramps, twitches)
Confusion 💫
Most people have no symptoms however

Medical assessment 📋
Blood tests (sodium)
Sometimes urine tests (sodium concentrations) 🚽
How do you Treat Hyponatraemia ❓
Reduce or withdraw some medications 💊
Hospital admission may be required 🏥
Treatment of the underlying cause (such as kidney disease)
Why should I Worry about Hyponatraemia ❓
Long term hyponatraemia can lead to increased risk of falls, fractures and osteoporosis 💧
Severe cases can cause seizures and/or a coma
