What is Multiple Myeloma ❓

 Cancer of the bone marrow (the centre of some bones) 🦴

 Found in the spine, skull, pelvis, the rib cage and long bones of the arms/legs 💀

 “Multiple” places are frequently affected

 Risk factors: older age, black ethnicity, family history, obesity and conditions e.g. pernicious anaemia 🧓

What are the Symptoms of Myeloma ❓

 Persistent bone pain

 Unusual bleeding (e.g. nosebleeds, bruising) 💢

 Fatigue/weakness/shortness of breath

 Dizziness/blurred vision 💫

 Recurring infections 🦠

 Possibly, thirst/confusion/constipation

 Medical assessment of symptoms 📋

 Clinical testing of blood and urine

 Painkillers

 Bisphosphonates for bone health 💊

 Steroid tablets

 Radiotherapy 🏥

 Stem cell/bone marrow transplant

 Chemotherapy and other medication to kill cancer cells 🥊

Why should I Worry about Myeloma ❓

 Treatment isn't a cure and aims to help control/reduce disease/symptoms 📉

 Early stages may not cause symptoms

 Causes various problems such as anaemia, hypercalcaemia and/or hyperviscosity 🅾️
