Dupuytren's disease

What is Dupuytren's disease❓ 

 A thickening of some tissues under the skin in the palm ✋ 

 May develop a contracture of one or more fingers: fingers bend (contract) towards the palm and cannot straighten fully ✊ 

What are the symptoms of Dupuytren's disease❓ 

 Skin thickening, pitting or dimpling on the palm of the hand ✋ 

 Firm lump on the palm or fingers ✋ 

 Finger bent towards the palm, and cannot fully straighten ✊  

How do you diagnose Dupuytren's disease❓ 

 Having classical symptoms 

 Examination of the hand ✋ 

How do you treat Dupuytren's disease❓ 

 None required unless affecting daily activities: 

 Enzyme therapy (injections) 

 Surgery to remove thickened tissue (straightens the finger) 

Why should I worry about Dupuytren's disease❓ 

 Contracture can limit hand function
